The 2013 Leto Cellars Old Vine Chardonnay is sourced from dry-farmed vines that were planted in 1973, and that only produce one and a half to two tons an acre. A warm and dry spring created near perfect conditions for flowering and fruit in 2013, and even temperatures through summer produced optimal ripeness at harvest. Slow native fermentation followed by partial malolactic fermentation brought forth the natural green apple, pear and wildflower aromas with hints of limestone, quartz and slate on the palate. Fruit forward and elegantly balanced, this finished Chardonnay faithfully reflects its characteristics at harvest.
